In my opinion any youth team player good enough to be making these kind of scores should be getting the opportunity to bat for longer in senior cricket so whilst frustrating I am in agreement with the limits set on batsmen in youth cricket.

Are you saying you are against junior players turning out for both underage sides and senior teams?

Quite the oppostite. If juniors are good enough to reach the score limits imposed they should be encouraged to play senior cricket as well where no such limits apply

It used to apply when I played junior cricket, but only in certain associations. I played u13s in two different areas and in one you had to retire, and the other you didn't. I don't know if it this still applies now, but once you made 25 you had to retire and could only come back when you were 9 wickets down. I retired a few times, and then had to swing when I got the chance to come back because you'd usually be in with the worst batsman in the team.

I don't think anyone should have to retire but I do think that if certain players aren't getting a bat or a bowl then it is the coaches job to put them up the order or to make sure they bowl. It just seems a bit anti-productive to stop kids on 30 or 50 as you never know they could get a ton and that would really help their confidence when batting in future.
