Cheers Glen, they look good on the bat as well a picture sometimes speak thousand words but only if it is taken well
Profile 1
Extra Thick edges, tapered to the shoulder and toe. Concaved for weight reduction but not extreme. Big spine from shoulder to just past the middle
Profile 2
A more classic shape cricket bat, medium size edge tapered to shoulder and toe. Slight concaving with a meaty middle.
Profile 3
A Twenty20 or sloggers bat. This bat is a standard men's short handle size in overall length but has around 3/4 to 1 inch removed from the shoulder of the blade. Additional willow is left on the edges, middle or both depending on the cleft. It is an end weighted [Low middle] bat for super fast swing speed and big hits.
The the SAF Custom - ie Whatever you want....
So a mix of Profile 1/2 as in big edges but has a classic back i.e. no concaving. Great bats to make and they go really well. I'm going to have a shake up of my profiles in a week or so and offer this one a valid profile and remove the concaving from Profile 2 I think.... I generally concave only to a #4 anyways as a happy medium, which means I can get an 1.5oz when I'm getting the weight down those last few ounces. I can go more extreme if required!!!!
I hate the last weighting bit and I often call Mike or Gary to see what they are up as distraction but the bat is still there waiting for 2oz's to be removed after the phone call.
That all said the customer is always right but I have been known to give people a bat that they didn't ask for because it will suit them better...but that is only to people I know!
EDIT: I just realized my profile 1 makes no snese - Big spine for the shoulder to just passed the middle.... hmmm maybe I do spend too much time in the pub
