Gray Nic's bag
« on: June 09, 2012, 09:11:55 AM »

Hi All,
Does anyone have either the Quantum or the Players bag?  Im after some images actually but info will do; wondering what they are like inside.  Both have the 'upper' section for pads and the lower has spaces for helmet and gloves - my questions are:

* Could you fit more than x1 pair of gloves in the special section
* Is there space for a pair of boots
* I will be carrying x2 bats - will they fit (The players apparently has a bat compartment, but Im not sure where...

Many thanks!

I bought a Players bag earlier this season, I'll try and stick some pictures up for you later on to show the different sections.

Depending on how you pack the bag you could carry more than 1 pair of gloves in the special section or you could use that special section for a pair of boots.

Don't expect anything from the bat compartment, if you look in the pictures on the Gray Nics website you have the main long side pocket and there is a small zip opening near end of the bag, that is the bat pocket if you can call it that - I couldn't fit any of my SH bats in it and do up the zip as the handle stuck out slightly......a harrow might fit.

It is well made and there is plenty of room in the main section if you don't use the seperate section for the helmet/gloves/shoes or whatever and just use the main compartment as one long storage area.

Packing wise I have a pair of pads in the top and then in the main section I have 4 bats, a pair of gloves, thigh guard, box and lid and there is still room for shoes but if you have spikes they would be in with your bats.  There are also side pockets with room for tape, spare spikes etc.

Don't go near the Quantum bags. Everyone I know who has had one has taken it back because the material quality is poor and the zips break inside a month. I had one when they first came out and had exactly the same issue.

might be being controversial but I had the quantum bag and loved it and never had problems with it ripping or with the zips. Maybe I looked after it better than others. However it was just too small for my kit, and was sold to a friend. If you're looking for a medium sized Gray Nicolls bag I would get the quantum.

Hey Bez,
Many thanks for that - really appreciated as it gives a good idea of where my gear will go!
Love those pads btw - are they Uzi??
Thanks again

No worries mate, hope it helps.

Yes the pads are the Uzi Black Mambas, haven't used them yet but I'm hoping the rain holds off to use them tomorrow so I can do a proper review.....the weather forecast is for rain in the morning possibly clearing in the afternoon.

To the other guys-thanks for comments on the quantum; I don't think it would be big enough for me anyway!

I had a quantum bag and yes you can fit that in but the zips really bad! 2 have broken within a month! may just be bad luck but very bad luck on me!

Same happened to me with my Quantum, on tour last summer! Lasted only a year, disappointing...
