I think wearing a box is sensible. Reminds me of when I loaned my thigh pad to a guy who had forgotten his - I hadn't been hit on it all season. Inevitably we ended up in the middle together, and equally inevitably I ended up with a nice 'stuffed pork roll' mark where my thigh pad would have been.

Always wear a box, I prefer to stand up to the wicket when keeping and untill recently never wore a lid...wish i did after being cracked in the side of the head from a top edge. Never happened before and never since but you can never tell!

As posted earlier I have discovered the Aero box and bries....very comfortable, wish I'd found them years ago!

On sunday, our keeper forgot to put his box in, and promptly got hit in the goolies by a googly!

Played in a game last year where our keeper was wearing a box standing up to a medium quick. Got an inside edge clean on and it looked pretty painful! He had to go off for some "treatment" so dread to think what would happen without one! I always wear full equipment. Even in my short career seen too many people pinned on the lid or broken legs in football without shin pads, just not worth it for some mild discomfort.

The first thing id chose over anything is a box. got hit on 80mph on the machine the other week in the love spuds Box saved me there
