First attempt on a part made
« on: August 04, 2012, 11:32:49 AM »

Hi guys,
Here's my first attempt at a part made. Just finished shaving it down. All i need to do is a bit more smoothing and sanding before i string and grip it.
It started life at about 2lb 13.5oz

I've now got it down to 2lb 10.5oz, with just the finishing to go.
Any thoughts and advice would be most welcome.

Cheers,
Adam

Sanding's all finished. Will add some more photos once i've given it a polish and got a grip on it.

Thanks,  somehow I doubt it though!  The last time I picked up any form of woodworking tools, was when I was about 13, so a good 10 years or so ago...

Edges are slightly bigger than a 2p coin, but I can measure more accurately when I get home.  There's no concaving, and the pick-up feels a little bottom heavy, although once I add a 2nd grip it will feel better.  The middle sounds wonderful and the mallett pings off it quite nicely...

Just need my own garden shed with a fixed bench, and I'll be sorted!
Now I gotta whack some stickers on it, but I can't decided on the designs that I've been toying with...

Edges are about 37/38mm depending on which ruler/tape measure I use.  Not sure on the spine size though.

Got an anti scuff and some edge tape on today.  Spent about an hour knocking in and the mallet absolutely flies off the surface.  The middle sounds beautiful too.  Look forward to getting this bad boy down the nets now!
