Training bat quality
« on: September 11, 2012, 07:02:44 PM »

As I will be on the hunt for one in the next month or two I just wanted to know if there a grading system for training bats (middling bats)

How do you know if your getting a quality bat and can you get them in 2.9lb weights?  :D

Can you tell I have no clue??? ???

Some companies were offering training bats made to the same standard as your match bat in the same weight etc etc however they had a premium, a lot of the cheaper end ones are kashmir willow and not weighted like your normal match bat.

Why would the grade matter unless you are planning to use it in the middle ? :P . http://www.hawkcricket.com/Details.cfm?ProdID=107&category=6

I made my own but I may be selling it after this season as I'll be making a slightly heavier one.

I'll get some pics up of it but its not silly thin at 3 1/2 inches wide but at 2.11 and 14 grains its a great training bat.

Swings well and obviously can be reduced in weight and size if needed.

You can do but I think you want your training bat to respons and swing in the same manner as your match bat... yet be half the size. It is possible... takes a bit of fiddling as if you lose the width and need to pack the toe the swing for me felt odd just having mass. I went for a high spine and a drop off... i will show pictures... but the bat whilst it looks very different to the match bat "feels" the same and swings the same... which is key in a training aid.
