Just an update on this kit, it will be my match kit to start with this season, I really like it, especially as it is so much lighter than my gm kit.

I would say the build quality is mixed, I can't see the pads lasting multiple seasons.

I now have 2 pairs of the gloves. The second pair of these gloves are bigger than the first no idea why, but I am pleased as their fit on me is better.

Third pair due next week... 😱

Tbh, regardless of what is promoted by brands, the build quality is not great on anything now, and things aren't built to last! If they were brands wouldn't sell as much :)

Build it to last 2 seasons s max and yiu have repeat custom as only older people now expect things to last. Most <21yr olds I know will chop and change every two/three years max

And most forumites will do this every 2 or 3 weeks so none of us are too bothered by longevity haha

Well I did say the build quality was indifferent on these pads and after only about 6 games this year there are signs of wear, so I felt a patch up job would be interesting.

So here is the evidence, a little super glue and some sticky back hockey chamois grip cut to size...

The reality is that the arch around the foot in these pads isn't big/wide enough, but they are so light, the are worth persevering with, nearly half the weight of the lovely looking new GM pads released today...

Here are a few more pics of the gloves and a comparison with my 2015 GM LE gloves (much less bulky - if only the fingers in the SG gloves were just half a cm longer!)

So, I didn't know that GM gloves were made by SG. The area of underside of the hand (grey elastic mesh in the picture above) looks similar to my GM 909 "Joe Root thumb" gloves. There is no ventilation there which leads to accumulation of sweat in the gloves early on in a long innings. The protection and comfort level of the GM gloves is wonderful but the lack of ventilation makes the gloves impractical. I switched the gloves with Newbery County and they have very good ventilation. I suspect these SGs would have the same problem.

Here is the underside of the GM 909 "Joe Root thumb" glove: https://www.robertpackcricket.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/5192_909_Close_up.jpg

The GM kit is of much higher quality.

I have never had a problem with ventilation etc. I don't sweat massively though. It would be almost unheard of for me to want to swap gloves. Although it has happened.

What's the protection like on the Hilite pads @Buzz ? I have the VKS Superlite pads that are brilliantly light (only about 650grams each) but the protection isn't the greatest on them.

Good enough. Remember they have foam in rather than canes so it isn't as good as the gm le pads.

Quite good enough for decent club level though

Have managed to source a second pair of normal mens sized gloves, here is the difference. Doesn't look much but the fit is different:

You've got two left handed gloves instead of a pair there @Buzz, SG have mugged you off.
