Hey guys , was recently looking through the newbury bats which I am considering getting soon (looking at a thruxton) but was wondering what's the difference between the standard bat and a PKI version of that bat?

Also how good are the lower newbury grades? What can you expect on a 5 star bat and a players bat and is it worth the extra cost (will probably go for one of those two grades if I get one) , thanks for any help .

Ah right I see . Never seen it abbreviated to that before  . What about the quality of the different grades?

Most responsive bat I ever owned was a Newbury GT Players, never tried a 5 star I'm afraid.

i have a GT Cadbury 5star, has 9 straight grains few butterfly stains and knocks up like a gun. it is pictured in thr bat thread about 2 months ago

Can't go far wrong with a newbery. Had a mjolnir 5 star which was a cracking bat, very responsive. Also had a Uzi players which had a few marks on the grain but one of the best bats I've owned.

I can confirm from my personal experience that there is very little difference between 5 star and SPS as I've had 2 of each. They are expensive but great bats. Luckily at the time I bought the SPS' money wasn't really that much of an issue - it certainly is now and if I was to use a newbery again I'd be more than happy with a 5 star

They are normally very chunky and pick up quite heavy so aren't that desirable. Same Newbery class tho
