Spent a couple of hours refurbing these old gloves
« on: January 06, 2013, 12:34:19 AM »

This is how they started

With a bit of old facing rubber and some red leather

I'm not going to challenge Mr Wymer or any other glove maker but it was fun to tat about with a classic pair of gloves.

How many years do you reckon to the life of the gloves?

Also... plenty of grains on that table! I've seen worse looking bats

There are a few knots on the face though ... Probably a G3.

Maybe even a Y2 net bat if you're using the MSR grading system? Depends if those knots still appear when the bat is made

Nice job with the gloves mate, the rubber refacing looks really good. I wouldn't know where to start!

It was my first attempt at re facing so I just started at the thumb and went from there. Facing the webbing was just whack a load of glue on and trim to fit.

The leather on the back of these gloves is quiet thick, apparantly Knotty liked a thicker back to his gloves so his fingers weren't inadvertantly pushed back.

These gloves will last about 10 years I reckon. Jack Russell had his last pair of gloves for ten years and Bob Taylor had 3 pairs of gloves during his career.

Held together by tape and string.

The table is a re stickered Nicolls :)
