Slazenger Bat Grading
« on: March 13, 2013, 08:29:54 PM »

Anyone know anything about the slazenger bat grading?

They have various names but all the descriptions I can find are the same - anyone know what grade of willow they all are??

Think Ultimate is the top grade, from the ones you've listed and runs upwards to club being the lowest grade
I think
I have an Ultimate and its got 12 even straight grains and go's like a train

Elite and ultimate are both 1, pro is 2. Not too sure about the others - think they are last year's grade names mainly (before we stocked slazenger bats)...

They're actually very explicit in their catalogue about their 2013 models:

Ultimate - Selected G1
Elite - G1
Pro - G2
Test - G3
Ultra - G4 Premium
Select - G4
Protege - G4
Prodigy - Y2

I find it really unnecessary when brands have so many grades. In my opinion , there should just be 3/4 grades. G1 , G2 , G3 , and maybe G4 if you want to be that specific or a G1+ grade that is reserved for your top quality pro willow. Not so many named grades for each grade like slazengers 3 different grades for  grade 4 bats! Can't imagine how the bat maker chooses what grade it is when he has so many choices  ???!

The ultras are actually quite nice. Grainy. At least 50%  heartwood in most cases though

A lot of those are 2012 grading, I'll be able to tell you what they mean tomorrow. Assuming the 2012 catalogue states the grading, and I haven't thrown it out!

Slaz seem to be using the 'correct' Wrights way of grading then
