Worth it?
« on: April 29, 2013, 08:24:21 PM »

Hiya guys it my first post and was looking for a new bat recently. Being a poor old chap i dont have much money but do you think a grade 2 surefire redback is worth it for 100ish of the queens finest. Also any personal comments on the surefire shape and redbacks overall quality?

Thanks

Definitely worth it for the cash. The Surefire is a really nice traditional profile with a bit of a twist and it has a lovely long middle. The bats they turn out are on par with anything else you will see on here. Buy one, you won't be disappointed! Great bats and very good value.

Welcome!  ;)

Redback used to sponsor the forum, but have since gone on to bigger and better things! Gary does make exceedingly good bats, judging by the ones that I have borrowed from friends...

Thanks for the replies guys. Im guessing the surefire picks up well with the weight distribution...heard they take a while to get going which is fine by me as long as the toe doesnt shatter into a million pieces. Black cat is still alive though.

I've got a paradox not a surefire but its a really nice bat so I'd recommend bats made by Gary. If you're buying new from him just be aware he's usually very busy so you may need a bit of patience but it'll be worth the wait.

Pick up on them isn't blinding as they do have a fairly low middle. No biggie though, if you're buying unseen and pickup is a huge issue just get one an ounce or so lighter than usual. They really ping when they're knocked in.

I see its good for driving,  but the long middle will work with cuts/pulls. Are there any other bats you guys recomend up to the £150 Mark?

Pretty much anyone of the batmaking sponsors on here can make you a bat for 150 notes. Just ask them!

If you've got £150 to spend then I think they'll be able to do you a grade 1!

Talk to Ryan or Shilly Shilly (Dom) I'm sure either of these guys could sort you out a blinder of a bat. Just drop them a PM

Aldred do a silver sovereign for £115, H4L have devil grade for something like £150 and Red Ink offer a bat at that price point. There the ones that I know do have an advertised product in your price point. If your serious I would suggest you put an add up in the wanted section and then go from there mate. Welcome by the way be prepared to spend lots of money if you hang around on here to long lol

Would consider an SS or SG as well, very cheap with great middles

any bat made by gary will be worth every penny you spend on it bud, i have had a surefire profile bat for the last two seasons and its still going like a rocket after scoring plenty of runs with it each season!, and before that i had an allegiance and that was just the same, truely the best bats out there in my opinion!!

Redback are nothing but class mate....I've only just had to retire my Redback after 6 years....was refurbed last year but split it during a big innings 2 weeks ago.....great value for money and quality willow!
