I must admit it is only in my last season that I have umpired such 'low' grades. But let's be honest the last lot I umpired for have just had the cleaners put through them by the the cricket association so I don't fell too bad about a completely wasted season. First season in my life where I believe I actually went backwards as an umpire.
So would the fith grade umpire missed that no ball??? I doubt it. Would the fifth grade umpire missed that ball that hit the ground ?? The answer is probably no because they obviously try a lot harder to get things right than a few of the current over paid, over awed (or perhaps something worse) and grossly overpaid people who currently umpire test cricket cricket and manage to bring the honest hard working umpire in to question.
Is there an agenda here that we have missed?
