First Class
Kieswetter - 89 Matches, 4613 @ 41.18, 251 catches @ 2.82, 5 stumpings @ 0.08
Davies - 122 Matches, 7005 @ 38.01, 360 catches @ 2.82, 5 stumpings @ 0.14

T20
Kieswetter - 1962 @ 27.63, 50/16
Davies - 1571 @ 23.8, 43/15

Much of a muchness tbh, and Kieswetter's first class stats are better than  Davies' and remains to be seen what mindset Davies will be in this seasion. Would much rather have CK

What a batting line up surrey are going to have. Smith, KP, Ponting & Buttler not to mention thier other stars.

Wish he had come to Somerset. Need someone who knows how to win trophy's.

english fans have been known to boo him out and back sadly

love or hate him,he is one of the finest players ever

as an England fan i've admired the bloke for years and years.Glad we won in 2005 dont get me wrong
but show me a better back to the wall innings than 2005 at old trafford and i'll eat my jock strap.

There was a lovely little tweet this afternoon from the Cricket AM legend that is @LesButterworth: "Rumour 'as it that Smith, Ponting and KP are all at Surrey to be closer to @ItsJustCricket".  Normally I have to stop and think before favouriting a tweet, but not this time.  Say no more!  :D

Thing is, if he goes there, he'll only be second choice behind Davies anyway. Besides he's not out of contract til next year, so won't be going anywhere for a while!

Think Davis has some personal issues, and since when has a contract stopped any one moving clubs ?

He won't go anywhere I don't think..... not yet. I would imagine Somerset will do everything within themselves to keep him. Davies has rediscovered himself by all accounts, spent the winter on tour with Elton John.... says he feels hugely refreshed.

Would be terrible for Somerset but I think just what Buttler needs in order to push on. Don't think there is anyone at Somerset who can improve him as a player and take him to the next level.

But I'm not sure Surrey is the way forward for him. They don't seem overly keen to bring on new players at the moment, and he's at best still a rough diamond IMO. How many of their squad are homegrown, so are their developmental skills proven?

Somerset have a few home grown but not sure any more than Surrey ?

I just look at someone like James Hilldreth. 2 years ago he was captain of the Lions and scoring tons all over the world, he was next in line for a test / ODI place and then drops off the radar as is overtaken by 1/2 a dozen new players. The same could happen to Kieswetter now.

one of the reasons Surrey have signed smith and Ponting is to change the culture at the club.
this was bought to a head with the drinking culture with the younger players. After the death of Tom Maynard, the club had to react, this is it.

Davis had issues, I suspect he was forced "out" sooner than he was ready and I suspect there was much guilt with him and RH-B about Maynard.

Davis will be back, whether he gets as close to an England spot again, who knows.

Jos Butler will be a good signing for a county, but I suspect he will find a compromise at zummerzet with kieswetter.
