Some game day ritual hasn't changed for a couple of years.  Get up, shower and shave, bacon sandwich and tea.  Get to the ground about an hour and a bit early. Put out the boundary rope if it isn't already, get the stumps in.  The rest of the team usually rock up, so I'll go for a net with anyone willing to bowl at me, just to help get my eye in.  Then I'll get a pint and wait for the off

That's the kind of warm up I like to see!

That's only for a home game of course.  I'm usually one of the designated drivers for an away game, as I have the biggest car

Used to get that in my old punto.  Nearly upended it one away game after going round an exit road off the A40 too quickly!  Got a citroen picasso now, so I can get 2/3 bags in the boot and 1 on the backseat.  Sometimes I'm just the designated luggage car if the only cars available are tiny

What do you use to strap your fingers?

Just standard medical tape, cost about £4 for a metre from the local chemist.

I left first everything. Sock, gloves, pads.

Ever tried the gel toe cushions like these http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Pharmaceuticals-gel-Toe-Cushion-Tube-1-tube_1253622/ , They have a silicone cushion inside the tube and feels like and extension of the finger. Very comfortable.

proper pre season friendlies also seem down on the list of priorities for clubs (some have none, or just hte odd one). I personally can't see why clubs dont' try and get 5+ games (at least 3 for each of their teams 1st,2nds etc). It's the only way to really get everyone some match practice and get everyone going for the league campaigns. Means while other players are busy 'getting into it' your guys are eating away on the juicy crap balls these bowlers bowl!

Although with the season starting relatively early now it means that there is only a very short window ahead of the season in which you can fit in pre-season games. However if possible i would love more practice games so as to adapt to the early season pitches rather than the fast and bouncy indoor nets most of us practice in all winter!

if we assume most clubs start their league games in may.. they have all of april. Even for the clubs starting in mid april you have the first few weeks of april.. saturday ans sundays.. that's 4 games at least potentially. Then if there is a bank holiday get a game arranged and link it with some form of family day etc

pre game for me goes one of 2 ways- if ive behaved the night before rock up early roll the pitch/take the water off have a brew and some banter then a little net and some drills with the lads mainly stuff with a skyer then toss up and get changed.
if ive been on the slurp the night before the game- open eyes, wonder where i am, stumble to the ground, crack open mulitple tins of red bull try try and sober up, sleep in the changing room, toss up, get changed, wonder why i do it to myself.

You say you have all of April, but the trouble with that half our club are finishing their football/rugby seasons in April, I'm trying to think what sort of team our club could put out during this time, and it would pretty much include someone from every team and we can put out 6 seniors sides, so I can't see it working for smaller clubs unless you paying your players

Cigar, cuppa, whack a few thunderbolts at the young 'uns, quick plop and I'm good to go.

We have two lined up this season starting on the 6th of april, however we are not very good at getting a sunday side out throughout the season so the idea of sunday friendlies probably wouldnt work in  trying to get a settled side out and then the weekend after we have a cup fixture on the sundat anyway so doesn't allow for that. I think the idea of extra pre season is good however the feasibility is limited i feel, also lookign at recent weather it doesnt seem like the season will be starting until june anyway!
