I tried counter weighting my bat with lead tape. I couldn't feel any difference at all with 2oz of tape so I started attaching more weights (metal washers). I was over 5oz before it felt different. Add a 1.5oz grip and it feels different straight away. Maybe Kallis is using tungsten, ether way I'm not sure he can legally add a counterweight. It's not willow, cane, twine, glue and his handle already has it's allotted 10% cork/rubber so I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be there.

Well I wasn't sure how noticeable the lead tape would be. But I've added 2 ounces to the end of the handle and can definitely tell the difference. The Thruxton used to pick up heavier than the Dynadrive but now it's the other way around. Very keen to hit the nets to test out the mod.

I've recently done this on a bat that weighs 2.10 and I want it to feel like 2.8 and I found that even though I put alot of tape on it, it hasn't actually made any difference to the pickup of the bat. I'm not sure whether it works with cricket bats as they aren't light like tennis rackets and golf clubs. I think it's more of a psychological thing that makes you think it's lighter.
