Sticker Help
« on: March 22, 2013, 11:09:56 AM »

I recently purchased some original stickers made by 3M from ebay . The back sticker is narrow at the end and is not sticking back. I have tried using gentle heat but was unsuccessful. I have resorted to using clear tape to stick it back which is a bit untidy. Is there any type of glue that can be used to stick it back please ?. Many Thanks

Contact adhesive will do the trick. Put a little bit on the sticky side of the sticker and a little bit on the bat in the shape of the sticker, leave it for 5 minutes to go tacky and then stick it down. Will dry within a couple hours and won't come back up again. I do this with the stickers on my Kookaburra as the ends tend to peel up and it is a neat and tidy way of fixing it. You can get contact adhesive from most supermarkets or hardware stores.

Would fevibond (stuff you get with a toe guard kit) also work ok?

Thanking everyone for the suggestions. I have so far been unsuccessful with trying to get the sticker to stick. I have used Bostik spray adhesive and pritt stick separately which didn't give a satisfactory result. I am looking at the different 3M spray adhesives and have mailed them for advice . http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/3M-Super-77/Super77/SprayAdhesive/Product-Information/?PC_7_RJH9U5230GE3E02LECIE204A00000000_assetType=MMM_Article&PC_7_RJH9U5230GE3E02LECIE204A00000000_assetId=1114288968002&PC_7_RJH9U5230GE3E02LECIE204A00000000_univid=1114288968002

double sided sticky tape?
That would be the last resort . I am quite keen to find out the best suited product as it could help with refurbishing bats and salvaging the stickers without sending it back to the bat maker.

Is there something on the wood stopping it from sticking, such as oil?

I would have thought most glues would work, but if needed, get some glue that sticks toe guards on (as mentioned above) which is about a quid from sports direct.

The first time I put the stickers on , there might have been linseed oil. But I have cleaned it since , I will try using Fevibond if 3M doesn't get back to me.
