Still the best Thigh Pad in my opinion
« on: April 17, 2013, 11:28:12 AM »

I read with interest that Stretton Fox / Aeros / Remfry weigh 500g+ for inner and outer pads. Then I thought, "don't I have something better" and indeed I do. I present old-tec, the Dukes Hypertec Thigh Pad:-

That's right 268g! Before I get a load of abuse about protection levels, all I'm going to say is I've never had a problem at club level and I'm not pretending these will do a job at test level. However, I have some Aero P2's and the Dukes are far more comfortable to move around in. I've had mine 2 years and still going strong and only £25 new. Just shame they are no longer made :-(

I played against someone with a set of these shorts, along with the matching armguard and vest with built in chest guard.

He also had one of those perspex GN grilles on his helmet!

Was quite a sight.
