i had an amplus for a couple of months at 2lb 13oz and it picked up far lighter than the 2lb 9oz other bat i was using
the middle is pretty high but not so high to be un useable our our wickets if you see what i mean

Eh?! How?

Quite - you should see my 2lb 15 Distinction - it picks up lighter than our openers 2lb 10oz Flare!¬

That's what they use in the shop. Even I could make a Amplus/Distinction pick up well - they've got quite high middles!

Like I said just my opinion, what I should have made clear was I was talking in the main about the solution & original low bats as these are the two I have seen and picked up. My statement around pick up was based on them having such low middles that there are very bottom heavy therefore almost impossible to get a good pick up in my opinion. The disctinction, amplus and other bats with hover middles may be different.

I personally have just never been the biggest fan of M&H bats, again very expensive core hat they are.

they are expensive,that's for sure
i had a 2 11lb distinction that picked up heavy-if you look at the size of the toe it's hardly surprising, the amplus picked up very very light
ive sent bats to them for repairs and refurbs and they have been top class, sold my distinction to a clubmate who loves it, put another guy in touch with M and H who are sending him a 2lb 11 LH Distinction this week

I would doubt I would personally pay £395.00 myself for the grade 1 or £300.00 for the grade 2
In fact I would'nt.
The only thing I would say is in my experience the bats do last if looked after...but that's also true of many other brands

They are expensive bats, but others are pretty much just as pricey! £420 RRP for Salix's top model (Pod Players), Newbery at £450 for their top model (Tour XL) and £450 for the M&H top model, so not a huge difference between them. I guess it is up to the buyer in the end, all of these brands are well established and are considered among the best money can buy. :)

That is true, but with Salix at least I have seen my bat made from start to finish (never been to newbery) I do not believe this to be true at M&H I know they shape there own clefts etc. Anyway I will see if I can get to use a true M&H bat in a net and see if my opinions change.

Hi all,

I just received my Millichamp and Hall T1 Bag, and that thing is immense. It's just huge.

Because of it's 'stand up' nature, the sides and bottom are very stiff, which is good as it's always open and you can see everything inside it, you dont have to worry about the bag sagging and hiding hard to reach things in it's vast spaces or corners.
The monochromatic color looks great and the embroidery is very smart.
I carry 7 bats (in full length covers) in my bag, pads, gloves, helmet, strippers, combo thigh pad, jockstrap, armguard, repair kit, 7 balls, mallet, grip cone, scales, moisture meter etc. (the works) and it all fits in with some space to spare. Stands up really well too. None of this toppling over rubbish.
Yes, it costs a lot of money, but, brand snobbery and 'pose value' has a bit to be said for it, sometimes. I hate having to explain to everyone about my Ayrtek helmet and Hammer Bats every week (no they aren't from ebay, yes it is English willow, yes it's from America, yes that's carbon fibre),  they now see the M&H bag and give me a knowing look, and assume i'm far better at cricket than i am.

I'm just waiting on a pair of T1 gloves to arrive, (to Australia) and then i'll get back to you all about whether or not the Aluminum is a gimmick or not.
