Hi
Wasn't quite sure which section this topic should go in so sorry if it is wrong. Thought I'd give a little review of a recent trip down South.
Having getting dragged to St Austell in Cornwall for a week visiting the wife's family, I thought I would look up cricket in Cornwall to see if there's anything of interest for me.
Lo and behold there was a cricket shop and bat maker. Now this had to be fairly new as I hadn't seen it on any of my previous trips.
I made my excuses to the wife and headed off first thing Monday morning. Gutted to find that they do not open Mondays or Tuesdays. So that means I had to wait till midweek to get a look.
Wednesday came and I made my excuses again. I headed off only to find a nice lady explain that there is a cricket festival and a lot of stock had gone on show there. I how I miss the fact there was a cricket festival in Cornwall was beyond me.
A couple of days pass and with my imminent return to York on the Saturday I gave one last attempt to see the full range in store.
I was greeted by Sean who happily talked about the shop, the background, their coaching and their own range of bats shaped in house by his father.
I picked up a number of bats and felt nicely balanced, looked good and could see myself using one if I had the cash. They were finished to a very decent standard.
Looking at the rest of the stock, there were some nice Kooks, Willowstix and a couple of FatBats. I was especially impressed by the Furore they had.
They also have a top range of softs of their own brand plus other major companies.
Nice set up, good look, very welcoming. I would definitely say you should have a look in if you are in that part of the world.
The old man also makes a cracking cup of tea.
