My Stretton Fox Review
« on: June 05, 2013, 10:25:25 AM »

Hi guy's just thought I'd give a bit of a brief review after wearing my Stretton's a few times!

Initially after seeing Stretton's appear on the forum I was rather dubious I must admit, I didn't really think the protection would be as good as other thigh pads due to their lack of thickness more than anything! I started the season wearing Aero P1's which I had used for a couple of years, whilst I liked them and the protection was very good I just couldn't get away with how bulky they were, even under whites they looked massive and sometimes they even got in the way when playing shots, they had served me very well but just didn't get on with them any more! When a set of good condition Remfry's came up for sale I bought them straight away and again really liked them, a lot less bulky than the Aero's with the same level of protection however they didn't wrap around the leg as well as I liked and they often fell down during an innings no matter how tight I done the straps up, this got very annoying having to re-adjust every over!

I had been looking at the Stretton Fox's appearing on the forum and they grew on me more and more, especially after seeing the various video's of people whacking themselves with mallets! Finally after a game being annoyed with the Remfry's I took the plunge and contacted George about the Stretton's! I rang him up on a Wednesday and we talked through various options about my height, build and what I wanted from a thigh pad, George was totally approachable and was fantastic to deal with from the start with no pressure to buy. I then printed off the templates of the shapes that George had suggested, I was slightly concerned as the outer thigh pad seemed rather big, this was no problem and George said he could change the size of them by a few CM's to get the fit perfect, outstanding service! I then went ahead and ordered and asked for my name to be put on the pads, I wasn't too fussed about having something fancy on them to be honest! I paid on Wednesday and received the thigh pads on the Friday in time for the weekend, amazing service considering the pads were built from scratch and custom made so thanks for that George!

When I received the package I obviously ripped it open and tried them on, the fit was good but not amazing, they felt a bit too tight for my leg at first. Then I remembered the need to bend them into place, after 5 minutes of bending them this way and that they fit unbelievable, they felt like they were literally moulded to my leg, I loved them! I even forgot how thin they were I was too busy trying them on, they are so thin and so light, they didn't restrict movement at all and you couldn't even tell I had thigh pads on when I put them under my joggers! Obviously I wanted to do the mallet test myself, couldn't feel a thing no matter how hard I tried! The protection is so good, and so much better than I expected it to be, in my opinion the protection was better than the Remfry's by a considerable margin! I played in them on the Saturday and there was none of this moving around like I had with Remfry, they stayed in place perfectly (something I was sceptical about with Stretton's having no fixed points). Overall I am over the moon with my pads, whilst they may be expensive they are well worth it in my opinion and should last years! And you can put them in the wash when your done! Thank you so much George!

Sorry to bore everyone, pics...

Good review. Could you put some pics up of them alongside your aeros to show the difference in thickness of pads pls?
