Newbery SPS bag
« on: August 13, 2013, 08:09:16 AM »

I have looked through the threads and was surprised not to find anything on the newbery sps bag so I was just wondering if anyone has had this bag in the past or currently uses this bag and would share their views on it?

I used to have the blue and gold one and I didn't get on with it as I found it far too small so sold it. Then I bought a kookaburra pro 1000 bag and the seems came undone on the bag so left huge holes after the 5 games so I returned to to the retailer; then bought a Newbery Tour bag which has been amazing and has lasted!

Had mine for about 15 years and only just starting to show signs of wear. Split sections inside are great and lots of internal pockets, pad and boot sections. Only down side is no bat tunnel but don't think any bags had these when I first got it.  Not too large so fits in my smallish boot with ease but still fits lost of kit and spares. Highly recommended.

I had one until recently, however, I stopped using it a few years ago for a salix bag that I have to carry on my shoulder.  I found the Newbery bag a pain in the backside with the split compartments. With the pads in the top the compartment it would keep falling closed when your trying to get stuff out of the bottom compartment.  I do miss the wheels on it though but that wasn't enough for me to keep using it.  And from memory, it was slightly too small to carry everything.

Great looking bag though.

I had a black and gold SPS for about 5 years, it worked really well for me while I had it.  I sold it on to one of the guys at my club and its still going strong.  The compartments were good but if I had a problem it was having to put my bat in the lid with sweaty pads etc.  The mesh pockets inside were very useful and I do miss them in the GN Xiphos bag I have now.
