Not trying to be awkward far from it.
But top spec bats are designed to be used against decent quality balls.
Whose fault is it that the bat has broken. Is it fair that the manufacturer has to repair/replace / refund. Surely the owner has a duty too.
like I said I'm not being awkward, just posing the question.
I’m guessing from a customer point of view, there will always be an expectation or belief that a £300 bat would last more than a season. Obviously a retailer has very little control offer what happens after the bat is sold, but the way this bat broke wasn’t a particularly quick bowler, and the guy using it wasn’t playing a particularly aggressive shot.
The type of ball used did seem a bit hard, but in all honesty the other 2 bats that were damaged had already been repaired in the past. As such, as my original post was probably more of a moan that the opposition used a cheap ball - and this was an aspect in us losing a crucial game.
This was the bat I am gluing back for someone else. It used to be my bat, so I know it had already had some damage in the same place.
