Am I the only one who thinks this isn't 'all that' - I mean for that sort of money you can pick up something quite special from a forum sponsor.

Granted it looks big for a 2'8 but again that's not something unique these days.

I agree, £240 goes a long way on here, which is why I wouldn't buy it but it's 100 times better than I thought it would be.

On a side note, doing a quick search on the internet and £240 is actually a really good price for this so keep an eye on Lords online as they've got some well priced items on there.

In store. Technically they can refuse to sell at the erroneous marked price up until the point where they start scanning your purchases at the till. Most will honour the price in store anyway, but if you ever find yourself in a situation where they refuse, the law is definitely on the customers side:

They can refuse to sell but most retailers don't as their avenue to do so is to remove the item from sale entirely - this can cause chaos for supermarkets, who are the most common makers of such errors!

I was always under the impression that the point at which a retailer could not refuse to sell was actually only once money had changed hands, as technically that's the point at which the contract is confirmed. Up until then, either party can back out.

I'm almost certain the seller can withdraw at any time if they have priced something incorrectly, if sold via distance selling anyway.

The customer can withdraw from the contract (if purchase is made via distance selling) up until the point where the goods are dispatched. I have threatened to cancel and get a refund on a number of occasions in the past after being sent incorrect goods. Because the goods i ordered haven't yet been dispatched there is no contract. Most companies quickly organise a courier to collect the wrongly sent item and usually give a voucher for money off or send a free gift when my correct item arrives as a form of apology. But i have had 3 occasions in the past year where they process my refund but never bother to collect the incorrectly sent items, resulting in an ebay profit of circa £180.

If anyone ever needs any advice in this field i am happy to help. I am by no means an expert but it was a big part of my studies in a former life. The Which website is a good resource too.

Sorry Jake, I was referring to in store rather than on line.

OT - No disrespect to this bat or Spartan,  I feel that profile is very similar to the SS Torpedo I had.

Side profile? Maybe... The difference is the SS is concaved like there's no tomorrow whereas that Spartan has almost no concaving. That's a massive difference right there. ;)

Consumer laws are always evolving, but when i studied this area the law read as follows, paraphrasing of course:

The contract between retailer and customer commences as soon as the first item in the customers basket/trolley/etc is scanned at the till, providing no laws are being broken by the customer.

With regards to distance selling, the seller can even cancel the sale, AFTER, they have taken your money, if they stipulate when the contract is formed... Which most now do... at the point of dispatch, not check out. I know this because of an expriance with debemhas.... Never shop with them if you can help it!

In the uk, for a contract to be legal it needs to have "consideration" for both sides, I.e. be fair.... I'm sure you could argue a decent case for the point of dispatch not being fair for both sides....
