Xiphos brittle???
« on: October 29, 2009, 06:17:31 PM »

Just thought i would ask if any of you guy's have experience of the Xiphos breaking? reason I ask is one of the players in my club had one last season which lasted less than half a season......... I really love the profile of the Xiphos and would be willing to get a pro performance model but I want to know if they are worth the investment......the player in question is not know for respecting his kit, so it might not be all the bats fault!

The grooves are pretty deep so it probly could break easily.

The delicate grooves must be very susceptible to breakage then.

i wouldnt have said they are any more susceptable to breakage than any other bat, if the grooves did indeed cause the bat to break they would not have continued it this year.  just a case of a bad bat or angry player

but when you get a small crack on the edge, if it gets worse it could end up as a bat breaker, were as on a bat with no groovees it would be ok

I have seen this happen to an xiphos, it just caved into the groove.
