Anyone help?
« on: September 19, 2013, 11:20:14 AM »

Hi everyone
Just wondering if anyone can help with my quandary. I have a bat that I love but it is on its last legs.  I am very picky with bats , particularly the handle shape.  My bat has a shape ( wider at bottom , pretty oval i guess ) which I have found difficult to find with other brands.  Most people will say just send it to a bat maker and get a custom bat made.  I have done this in the past but not been entirely satisfied - but have been committed to buying the bat.  What I really need is a batch of maybe 4 bats ( between 2lbs 9 and 2lbs 10 with slightly different pick ups ), with the same handle as mine, to choose probably a couple from.  Would a bat maker do this?
Would be grateful for any advice..

So you want a bat maker to make you 4 bats so you can buy 2 from. Doubt it. Your best bet is to go to well stocked shop that you know sells oval handle bats and choose from there.

might be better to visit a batmaker and play around with a few part mades. Get him to tweak it while you are there and get the shaping/balance how you would like it.

Thanks for those replies.  Which brands ( large and small ) have distinctly oval handles. GM claim to but they are more round than oval i reckon..

Post a picture of your handle mate , then someone can give you hint where you can find a similar one.

It's the same handle as my Screaming Cat. Some of our forum sponsors can take an idea and help you in getting something similar.

Simple option would be if in working order take the handle from the blade of your existing bat and then problem sorted. Most custom companies can give you a oval handle. From personal experience Salix, choice and B3 offer complete custom options, there will be many more just depends where you live

For me, Hunts County make the best oval handles out of the off the shelf brands and are well priced. John at Red Ink also makes a lovely oval handle, maybe fire him over a message!

The red ink I had a very oval handle.

If you can take your bat to see them, I'm sure they would be able to copy it.
