Best sounding Bat you heard/played against this year
« on: October 01, 2013, 11:30:44 PM »

After starting the thread worst sounding bat, I'm intigued to hear whats the nicest sounding bat you've heard this year, admittedly if your own then post a pic of the weapon you've used,

I don't mind starting of course for me the best bat i heard was a t20 game it was a bit of a friendly match between england and aussies, and our overseas got one of his mates to play for them, using a RNS Larsons, don't know what model he had but it sounded properly sweet and cleared the boundary many a time.

As for saturday sunday games we played against a chap with a very nice Ton bat possibly the Max power model, obviously well looked after and prepared.

I've got to say the best sounding bat that I heard all season was my own, I had plenty of people coming up to me after I had played a nice shot during the game and people after games asking me about my bat - which was a Vantage custom.

Thankfully it's still in one piece and hopefully ready for another season - just needs a bit of tlc in the winter.

Played against a guy who had GM Hero 505, and ohh boy the way it went. One of the guys who wasn't the best technically nor was a hitter, but whenever the ball made contact with the bat it sailed over the ropes, no power applied, sheer bat's power. I'll sell 2 of my bats to own anything close to it.

After a lot of work to get it going (circa 10 hours on the bowling machine) my Laver Reserve is the sweetest sounding bat I've ever used.

A Salix (the model I can't recall but it was pretty old) that came in for repair sounded beautiful when I tapped a few balls up with it. Best sound from a bat I can recall, didn't get to use it, but it was up there with my laver.

Being out in Derby/Notts i've seen a lot of B3 bats being used especially later on in the year, be interesting to see if these are as popular next season,
Never seen a laver in the flesh though so looking forward to the Vitas meet and seeing and hearing one go in the nets.

Played against a guy hit a ton against us using a Kook Rogue 850 (or whichever number is one down from the Players, can't be bothered to look it up!) - that sounded very good from behind the stumps.

Got a team mate who's got a Funky bat that always sounds good, but the best bat was another team mate who had the season of his life using one of Chris Woakes' Oblivions.  Heavily concaved but virtually every shot like a rifle crack and it absolutely flies.  Woakes was a client of his (he's an IFA) and as a thank you opened his boot and said pick one (of 7)

I'd say my Hattori is pretty close - if you like the sound of cannon fire every time you middle a forward defensive.  Matt H4L also had a superb one that was made for Azhar Mahmood.  And one of our lads has a low grade Slazenger that absolutely flies.

I had a team mate with a really nice pro rejected Warsop that he picked up from the workshop, played against a guy with a really nice old Salix too think it was a jewel or something. Also a mate with a GN powerbow but it went in the toe late on in the season.

Used a Hawk bat that I borrowed from a mate. Even though it was a brief innings, it felt great, went like a cannon and sounded superb. But the best I've heard or seen in a long while, was in a game against Colne. Young opener had a Kippax, not sure what model. Looked a couple of years old. I don't think I have seen a ball fly off a bat so well in my 30 years of cricket, and the crispness of the sound it made off the bat was unreal.
