Surridge Sports and their sticker rip off
« on: November 27, 2013, 04:15:46 PM »

Hi all,

Recently, I acquired a Surridge Retro 333 Turbo. It has been used for half a season, has the standard face cracks and I have just sent it to Dean at Vulcan for refurbishment.

Surridge do not offer a refurb service, however I did ask them how much a new set of stickers for the bat will be. I was quoted £50! I almost fell over! When I had my Newbery fully refurbished, the whole process (including new stickers) was £35!

I'm gutted I can't replace the stickers, but I have no intention on taking out a second mortgage to pay for them.

I was just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences with Surridge, or other makes, doing this when you genuinely trying to refurb a genuine bat? How can they substantiate £50 for what are, really, not even the best quality of stickers.

Have you made them aware of what you paid with Newbery?

Man that's a rip off!

Indeed. Even Millichamp and Hall were cheaper and they are pretty much the benchmark for every bat maker who is worth their salt - in the entire world!

I think I need a lay down! :o

If it has only been used for half a season, then I am very confident in Deans skill at not removing the stickers and working around them.

I would suggest that if you put a set of SS stickers on eBay, you'd get somewhere near that. It will stop all this selling online.

Which is understandable IF they are not going on a genuine bat they are meant for.

I get annoyed when, they will not refurbish the bat themselves, then try and commit daylight robbery on the stickers.
