Looks like you've done a good job to me but I'm no bat repairs expert so a few questions if you don't mind.

How did you go about this?
Have you done this before previously?
How long did it take you to do it?

Its ok i dont mind so i will answer ur questions, first of all i am not a expert bat repairer, i just do it using the basics rules of wood glue and clamps, i have repaired some bats, i try to learn from all the repairs topics in this forums, and all the pics of bat repairs i can find on the web.

Living in a non-cricket country like Panama, we have no choice that use our imagination and try to learn from pics and videos to repair our bats.

1. What i did first was to cut the scuff sheet just in the areas in wich the edges were damaged, i didnt removed the scuff totally because i didnt whant to sand all the face of the bat and deal with the glue residues of it. Then i opened the cracks with a small knife or flat screwdriver, watered some glue and filled up the cracks with it, then clamped them with strechy parcel tape, leave it overnight then removed the tape and sanded the affected areas.

2. Done before? well yes i have repaired some bats, but not a expert of it, almost all my repairs i have posted a topic with pics of it in this forum.

3. It took me around 5 to 7 hours in 2 days of work.

Hope i replyed all ur questions, if u have any other dont doubt to ask me again..

Cheers from Panama

Cricket in Panama is being played for more than 100 years, when West Indian workers came for the Panama Canal construction, they didnt passed cricket to their Panama borned kids. Thats what the indian comunnity here did and now we have 22 teams, dividied in First and Second division.

Also there is a U-15 taped ball tournament.

We dont have proper cricket grounds, we play in football and baseball grounds, with matting.

Cheeers...

Cheers mate, never would have had Panama down as place were cricket was played in a league format.

Good job on the repair mate. Looks like to sanded well. I see you say you used tape to clamp it together. I find that if you have an old grip and cut it into small pieces and use like an elastic band works very very well. Shame you didn't do the whole bat and sand it all as I think it would have looked really good with a nice refurb.

I guess you have to oil or bat wax your bats quite often as I guess it's very hot out there and the bats will lose a lot of there moisture content.

Thanks for the grips adivce, i have tried several times but for me tape works perfect, anyway will give another try in next repair.

And yes i do oil my bats 3 coats when are new, and after that before the start of the season i do 1 coat in each bat.

Cheers...

Hi Cricket_PTY looks likes you have done a good job on your mates bat in repairing it, however saying it looks like it has had a hard life is a bit of an understatement, whats he been doing with the bat using it to knock fence posts in with. lol

LOL bro... 2 big mistakes:

1. He went straight to the nets without any knocking in, he beleived too much in the GM NOW sticker and this happend.
2. He gave the bat to a teammate of him, who isnt one of the best player, more a slogger and this is the result.

For me i have 2 golden rules, there are 2 things u can never lend to anyone, ur woman and ur cricket bat... LOL
