eBay Octane bargain...
« on: August 11, 2013, 07:49:12 PM »

evening all.

if you don't like heartwood, look away now...

I have been hankering after an octane or an argon all season  (i prefer the octane stickers but the argon shape), I spotted this lovely bat on eBay for £120 posted, so after some thought too the plunge.

It is an octane 808, weighing 2lbs 10 pretty much on the button.

first thing to say it has a pretty square face but it is a big bat, yes it has some concaving, but nothing like the Asian bats you see.

the bat came as "hardly used" and to be honest it looked new, but the grip wasn't in great shape.

Talking of the handle, the handle is thin, which I don't really like, so have had to put a second grip on the bat, which is ok, but for me not ideal.

but the grains are decent with a little water stain in the willow near the toe, which isnt a bad thing.

finally, does it go?
yes.
I have had a net with it and was really impressed.. slightly hard, but it will get a go in a match at some stage this season...

pics coming...

Nice one Buzz.
I think you can file that under 'negligible' concaving :)

Going to revive this topic and say this bat is now in my possession.
I can't beleive the number of grains it's got.

I haven't had a chance to use it yet, by if it goes as well as it looks I'm in for a treat!
