Bristolian cricketers
« on: March 27, 2014, 11:14:33 AM »

Anyone know much about Old Bristolians Westbury Cricket Club, my bro's been down your wsay for a few years and has come out of 'retirement' to play for them. Used to be really handy as a kid but chucked it when he was about 16(he's 25 now), just wondered if anyone from here might end up playing against/with him.

Played against them a few times, not for a year or so as they are in the league above me - they are a decent bunch that enjoy their cricket and beers after.  Only downside is the ground is just outside Bristol and can be a pain to get to/from, its also rather exposed so can get REALLY cold up there.

Only play them indoors currently as Byo says they are in the division above what we play in, David Gravneys son plays for them who uses all of our clobber. They also play in the indoor league that Byo and myself compete in so if he plays in that he will come up against us.

I'd imagine he'll be starting down in their bottom side or two for now.

Played against these boys a lot in the past. Being completely honest 90% of the players I've came across have been tossers! I may have just had bad experiences with them though.

That said, as Tom mentioned David Graveney's son is a nice guy.

However they do have a big flat pitch with a really good wicket!
