Our club was recently donated an amount of money and we are looking at getting full covers to replace the sheet we currently have.

We've been looking at all the options - either making them ourselves, buying them new and also looking at if any clubs around notts/yorks that have old ones they dont need, but no joy so far.

ideally budget is �2500, but most ready made prices seem to be �3500+, which is why we are considering making ourselves.

Does anyone have experience making themselves or recommendations for suppliers that would fit in our budget?

All the suppliers are pretty closely grouped with their pricing.

There is a cost both in time and materials to making them yourselves, and unless you have someone who is skilled/knowledgeable enough to do it properly (and is willing to give up a lot of their time for free) then it can become more hassle then any slight saving you may make.

One option would be to raise money via sponsorship and get the sponsors name/logo onto the covers themselves.

I have a set of plans from somebody that built their own. I havent got round to building ours we were donated the steel and covers for free.

Just need some wheels and somebody to do the welding.

I was planning on doing the drawings (i'm a design engineer by trade), but are your drawings something you could share?

We are quite fortunate that we have welders and fitters that play for us - plus one of our ex-players owns a sheet metal company and could do some of the work for us.

Do you still have the plans for covers made yourself???

What was the cost coming out like?? We have just bought a cover with eyelets, but always looking to improve.

Only in UK. Around here if it rains we call it a day and put a tarp on the wicket.

If you can make them yourselves i think they would be of better quality, all being equal.
