Hireable umpires?
« on: August 24, 2014, 08:43:08 AM »

Virtually all the leagues our club teams play in require umpires and scorers from both sides. We have 4 teams but we have really struggled to get regular umpires over the years. Like most clubs usually non playing club members/ supporters offer their time but that's quite unworkable for seasons on end and with 4 teams.

Just wondering if there is such thing as a hireable umpires in your local area and if so how you source them? Would elevate a lot of hassle for us (not to mention one sided umpiring)...

Edit: Sorry mods, just realised I've posted this in Your Kit rather than Your Cricket. Apologies.

Our league has panel umpires you need to arrange a week in advance.

As above get in touch with your local panel/umpires asassociation.

There will probably be some 'unaligned' umpires who may be willing to be your official for the league.

Thanks guys - Seems obvious now that you say it. I've not been involved very much in the clubs organisation this year due to work commitments so not sure if this aveneue have been explored already.
