Fundraiser
« on: July 09, 2014, 01:40:57 PM »

Thought I would make everyone aware of a fundraiser that I am undertaking along with 11 other brave souls...

From Thursday 8pm until Friday 8pm we will be netting.  No breaks, no mercy, come rain or shine (looking at the weather there is going to be a lot of rain between midnight and 4am!!).  This should work out to be around 500 overs! (40+ overs bowling and batting each)

We are an active club with 5 Saturday mens side, 2 Sunday mens side, 1 womens side, 1 girls side, 4 boys colts sides and a strong disability side.  A lot of players give up a lot of their own time to coach and we are very active within our community.  Unfortunately our nets are a joke, dangerous to bat in.

Obviously any donations would be greatly appreciated as would any awareness people could raise through their facebook pages, twitter etc.

https://www.justgiving.com/Chris-Bennett7/ is my individual justgiving page

https://www.justgiving.com/teams/hwcc24 is my club page

Thanks for reading.  :)

Well I'm batting 3 and keeping on both Saturday and Sunday.  I'm not particularly sure I'll be able to move!  :(

How are you organising the change of batsman? Is it going to be an out and change job? I can just imagine someone bowling for 12 odd hours and getting a first baller!

Okay, well I've recovered enough to just about type now!

Of course, it rained all night and morning... Such is life.  It was wet, horrible and after about 12 hours the maximum distance I could bowl a ball was on a length!

We took turns to bat, 1 hour each.  That took us through the first twelve hours and then did three sets of 20 minute nets each for the final twelve hours.  It was unbelievably difficult, its tough to accurately summarise how hard it was.  Lets put it this way, 12 solid hours would have been hard enough!  We made sure to have 6 bowlers and one batsman in the nets at all times.  We averaged a ball every 15 seconds for the entirety of the net.  This works out to roughly 1000 overs over the course of the 24 hours.

6 of the 12 did not sleep.  I had 15 minutes in total and was seen as lazy!

Saturday's game was equally horrible.  Keeping 52 overs and batting for about 20 overs was hard work!

Thanks for all your interest.

Once again, the justgiving page is attached below.
