Budget Bundles
« on: August 03, 2014, 03:45:28 PM »

As cricket is my third sport I tend not to spend a great deal on my kit so I thought to myself what could be the best combination of 'cheap' (but quality) kit I could possible get. I currently play 2nd/3rd team cricket so the protection doesn't have to be the best.

So if you very well educated cricket players and fans could help recommend, the best cheap but quality items for the following it would be much appreciated; Bowling spikes, Pads, Thigh pad, Gloves and helmet.

Here are some prices I reckon you could aim for, I believe you could get good, if not "the best" for these prices:

Spikes.   Hard one because there is less choice. Either your looking at 70-100 quid for decent boots, of if you can getaway with it cheap ones from about 25 quid. You might get lucky on ebay if you have small feet

Pads. 40 quid, loads about at this price that are decent. Have a look and see if there are any old models kicking around, always a bargain.

Thigh pads.  Ten quid each.

Gloves like pads, 20-30 quod

Lid, prob, 30 to 40 quid. Might be harder to get hold of, not sure. Look for gm,gray nics , etc. might get a bargain.

Good luck

Good luck
As Soulman said - Sports Direct will get you what you need at bargain prices. Two examples included above.

Just got a pair of the Slazenger Aero for $45 Aus from Sportsdirect. Coming from ASIC Gel Gully they seem very light and comfortable. 6 rubber studs in the package to convert them to half spikes.

I got one of them too. I think it's called the international helmet. It's light and comfortable, but looks like it's only designed to take one good hit. The grill is strong. Not the same strength as my old Albion.
