Packaging for bats

Hi,
I'm returning my Gold Sovereign Butterfly to Paul for a winter refurb. I've never posted/couriered a bat before and obviously anxious that it doesn't get damaged. I remember it got delivered in a nice long thin box, but can you buy things like this as one-offs? I found an old thread about getting bulk orders of these. I'm worried that just bubble wrap won't be enough, but what do others do, if you're not into the habit of doing this regularly?
BTW any suggestions about couriers is always good, I always hear lots of terrible stories about MyHermes...

I used either boxes other bats were delivered in, or old archive boxes from work and made a Blue Peter style tube.
Plenty of bubble wrap and a triangle shape box do the trick.

As for Hermes, people only tend to review bad service, I've posted loads of bats through them incident free buddy.

Your best bet is to keep hold of the box Paul sends it back to you in! I kept mine anticipating sending mine back to Paul for a refurb come the end of season but unfortunately I barely got to use it as a knee injury ended my season very early on.

Yes I wish I'd done that with hindsight and I will next time.  Doesn't help me now though...

I sent a bat to back for a refurb when it was delivered the batmaker rang me and said the bat had arrived with the handle snapped in half. Having recently posted a bat  and not  having a proper bat box  i posted it using bubble wrap as a first layer then padded envelopes as wrap rounds  as a second layer and then thick cardboard boxes cut to the shape of the bat.
The bat cost £11.00 to post with the Royal Mail mainly due to the overall length rather than the weight of the packaging.

Bat boxes aren't usually available as one off purchases. You can order them but usually in minimums of at least 10+

You might be able to find a golf club box in smaller quantities on ebay, or maybe if you visit your local course/pro shop they might give you one.

Great suggestion Jake, nothing like a bit of lateral thinking. Dropped in my local golf shop, sorted  :)
