I think it would be interesting to base it on continental lines.  Africa, Asia, australia, Europe, Americas (includes Windies)  Kind of like a Cricket Ryder Cup tournament. Round Robin where each team plays every other and the top two face off in the final. I suspect it would always end up as Australasia v Asia on current ODI form.

Joyce has a ropey ODI record for Ireland given the amount of cricket played vs associates and is 36.

Who are the likes?

Like you said, an row XI would be better.

Do you want me to go through my picks for every position in a European team?

Netherlands came above England in the last T20, so there must be decent players in there, like Cooper and TenDo.

Joyce averages 30-odd, which would be a fair bit higher if he was in a better team. Less pressure and more time to score runs. I believe most of the 'minnows' would be better if they got to play he bigger countries more often.

Practically any decent European associate player would be guaranteed a place in in county cricket. Only 2 that have done so and taken good noticeable advantage of that are Joyce and Ten Doeschate.

Edit : Obviously you do have the likes of Tom Cooper however who is playing in Australia.

Irish off top of my head

Tim Murtagh
George Dockrell
Kevin and Naill O'Brien

Can't think of any Dutch but can look into it.

Seelaar is a good spinner.

Those Irish players have all had their day.

Kevin is currently struggling to get a county contract and Neils fairly modest average of <30 in ODI cricket currently won't do him many favors.

Seelar's a decent shout, a fairly defensive spinner than attacking from what I've seen however that would be better for ODI cricket I guess, doubt he'd get in a European team over Tredwell or the few English spinners behind him.

Dockrell is only young.

The rest are mid-30s, ok for now. We are not talking long term.
