It's not that they are over weight, it was just meant to be a slightly humorous title.
It's not that they are overweight it's just that now days because of the bull that companies have instilled in people over the years that has created the fashion for big bats people are wanting big bats that weigh 2-7, 2-8,2-9 mark so that means when you handle and press a cleft for a standard short handled bat to hit the 2-7 mark the cleft at that stage needs to be at least 3-4 as you take a pound out. A lot of the Asian bats that have been used by professionals have been super dried so they look huge but are light, but brittle. It doesn't matter to a professional as he gets given bats, I don't reckon the general public would appreciate going through a bat every month at £300. In fact I wouldn't appreciate it as a professional as I want to keep a bat that is a gun. So these clefts are just the ones that are heavier no difference in quality just heavier as people have dictated it. If people wanted thinner bats we could take more out of them to get the weight for sure.

One of the best bats I have ever owned or used had only about 18mm edges. My L&W Bradman edges wouldn't be much bigger than around 22mm (can't remember actual size and don't usually measure) and that is as good as any I have used as well.

If you had a standard short handle and a 2 " shorter blade you will have a 2" shorter bat?
T20 bats? Very much a gimmick, will it make you hit the ball further? No. Did they used to have to bring the boundaries in 15 yards all round for people to hit sixes? No. They were bigger boundaries because they didn't have modern stands that had to encroach into the outfields. It used to be minimum 75 yard boundaries in international cricket. They struggle with that now a days as the grounds have shrunk under stadium development. MCG huge ground they always hit sixes there with what would be considered minuscule bats now days, but they weighed the same and were pressed to get the best out of the willow and shaped to get the best feel for the batter. Check the photo below. Dean Jones could hit it long and hard look at the size of the bat. I know how hard he hit it I spent many mornings just giving him throw downs let alone playing alongside him

I meant SH length bat - so will have to re handled with a longer handle.

Dean jones was one of the best ODI players - all those benson and hedges series and during World Cup. Loved his batting.
It's great that you got to play alongside these legends.

No these bats are all set for standard short handle standard blade. We don't do t20 bats if we made one for someone it would be a special order

when I saw him first hand at the end of his career I suddenly realised how good he really was. he led from the front. he dictated the game when he was batting, it was incredible. he never asked anything of anyone that he hadn't or wouldn't do himself. when he first came he would field at short leg to show that he could do it well so when he asked others to field there they couldn't argue with it. incredible player.
