ECB match awarding
« on: December 17, 2014, 07:42:10 PM »

Just thought I'd point this out to those that have missed it :

http://www.ecb.co.uk/news/articles/major-match-awards-2017-2019

Few points of note :
-The 2019 ashes goes back to the traditional 5 test grounds.
-Edgbaston guaranteed 2020 finals day up until 2018 (something that dissapoints me a bit as I quite liked it as an event that went around the grounds every year).
-Taunton get a T20i v South Africa in 2017! Biggy for them, they're first Int match for 18 years.
-Been stated that they're keen to keep the 2017 Champions trophy in the same format as the last one (The Oval, Edgbaston and Cardiff).
-Some grounds have been guarenteed a package of 5 WC games subject to ICC approval. All I've heard of as of now are they include Lords and Southampton, presume most of the others are included in that. Does anyone know what the structure of the 2019 world cup will be as I believe only 10 teams will compete?

I agree, the Edgbaston 20/20 finals day is a bit disappointing.  Nice to see it move around the country.

Assume the wc structure hasn't been announced yet? Back to a single league of 10 perhaps?
