Woodstock Platinum Pads
« on: October 21, 2014, 02:16:53 PM »

Hi guys, I am interested in buying a pair of Woodstock Platinum batting pads, and before I do, I just wanted to get your views on them. If anyone has a review of them that would be great as well. Also on my short list are the H4L batting pads. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I have a pair.. very happy with them: light, fit well and compact unlike my old GM 909 d3s which seemed much larger when on. Top protection too!

I don't think you could go wrong with H4L or Affinity pads either but have yet to see/own a pair yet.

Having held blank copies of both I'd opt with the H4L pads

Thanks bro. My only concern with regards to the H4L is the leather on the inside on the pads. I live in Trinidad and it gets pretty humid during training, and I usually train in shorts, so I worried about sweating and the leather. Don't think it will mix too well. Was considering the affinity pads as well, as I have a couple bats and a pair of batting and wicket keeping gloves and I must admit, the qaulity is absolutely fantastic....

Do you think the leather on the shin bolsters will be a problem? Especially when using shorts in humid conditions?

Hi
After using some platinum pads of my friends i would review them as being heavy bulky and hard to run in but on the other hand protection is good. I would defo go for the h4l offer similar protection but not as bulky
check out its just crickets review of the h4l pads https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gsev8uN47Eo

also a standard weight for a pad is 1kg which the woodstock pads are, whereas the weight of the h4l is a lot better, 50 gram plus is a big difference

Thanks @harry gamble for the input. 90% convinced on the H4L, just worried about the leather shin bolsters and it's lack of moisture absorbtion.

yeah the video explains a lot, all pads take in moisture and will be hard to get rid of but because they are black inside it wont show up and if im not mistaken they are leather triple section vertical shin bolster so will be able to wipe down. maybe you would have to put a towel down underneath your sweaty kit to avoid any moisture going through the bats like mike hussey does in the video in the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJdhzCZE-xk
