Seeing as I now have both helmets in my possession, I thought I would do a quick comparison of the two different lids and my first impressions.

Comfort: The first thing I noticed about the new vision series helmet is how comfortable it is. This thing is seriously comfy. The 2013 shell was by no means uncomfortable but when you compare the images of the inside of each helmet, there is a better coverage and type of padding. The 2013 shell had high density foam and some fabric pads, whereas the 2015 shell has a good coverage of 'spongy' foam. The 2013 has an adjustable velcro fitting at the back and the 2015 an adjustable wheel. Both helmets are large mens but with the 2015 on the smallest setting it feels a fraction bigger.

Vision: I have the gap between grill and peak on the 2013 set smaller than a ball to reduce the chance of the ball passing through the gap and the fixed VS grill is set about 10mm narrower than this. With a larger grill on the vision series that protrudes more than the 2013 grill set as far forward as possible, the vision is not as good no the vision series. Not by a lot, but I do notice the top bar of the grill more as the titanium is thicker than the 2013 grill and because it is further away from my eyes with the increase in size. Hopefully, the more I use the helmet the more I will get used to the change

Protection: The vision series is supposedly safer than the 2013 lid. It feels more substantial (hence the added weight which i'll come on to next), the grill is a lot bigger and further from the face compared to the 2013 protecting a larger area.

Weight: 2013 Test Titanium - 696g     2015 VS Test Titanium - 987g a difference of 291g. Do you notice it? Yes, especially when holding it - not so much when wearing it.

I've not had chance to wear the new lid in the nets yet, hopefully give it a whirl tomorrow and i'll add to this with my thoughts. My first impressions are mixed. I love the 2013 Ti lid, it's light and the vision is good even with the grill set to prevent a ball passing through - but compared to the VS it feels 'brittle' - it's hard to explain. The VS feels more substantial, it feels solid like you would feel nothing if you were hit. Yes it's heavier and the vision is slightly poorer. Does this make it worse than the 2013? No. Can I live with the differences......guess time will tell. Pictures below

Nice review there Mav, I am quite a believer the old style masuri should be comfortable and provide protection enough for our level of play.
