My new club was only established in 2013. Played it's first season last year but we have built it around a strong social aspect. We made sure we booked at least 2 team meals that year, one during the season and one at Xmas. We have already booked 3 this year. Pre/post season and one tbc if a touring side visits. We set up a sponsorship with a local indian restaurant. They sponsored our club and we confirmed the 2 meals at the restaurant. Race nights are always good, and we tried to arrange a 'late finish' Saturday once a month through the season where we would go out together. A beer after winter net sessions worked well as it did after regular season training.
See what other local clubs are organising events and see if you can get involved in any short format day tournaments etc. Always good for social. Interclub friendlies work for clubs with enough players. Mid season bbqs and if you have access to s bus use away games as an opportunity to go on the lash. As long as you have a designated driver it's a great day/night out.
Fundraising is difficult to just do from scratch. Find a way to involve more than just the playing members. Or join with other clubs that need help. We will be organising las man stands 1 day comp this year with another club as well as joint social events at both clubs to raise money. Include raffles on the nights and play games like heads and tails. Easy way to raise quick cash if you have a room full of people.
We just did a joint race night with a gymnastics team on Saturday. Raided over £500 each at the end of it
