Pick & mix to create best bat.
« on: February 06, 2015, 09:13:57 AM »

I was chatting to a mate last night about cricket bats and the subject somehow became if you could take aspects of all different bats to create a "super bat" what would they be. This is what I came up with

Handle - Salix personally always loved the shape of a Salix handle semi oval at the bottom and round at the top on a lot of occasions just fits perfectly into my hands.

Stickers - personally always loved H4L throughout the years always think they have been very good and attract positive attention without being OTT

Appearance - Bas never seen an ugly stick even on low down grades like the one simon posted up to the ones on Asad web page all stunning straight grained.

Longevity - personally for me GN seem to last very well and I see very little that break and through out the years iv faced more balls with a GN stick in my hands than any other and never had one break

Performance - now the most important and iv had lots of great bats but I'm going to go with Salix just, my HH bat so Salix made will be going into its 3rd year and is the best bat iv ever owned saved for special occasions on lovely weather days now but also my SLX is just a Gun from the off. Some may say I'm biased but I own a lot of kit and use many bats through the season and at the moment for pure performance Salix pressing has it for me .

Pick up - can't decide on this one so going to go joint between Salix and M&H both to me have excellent balance and pick up and never feel the weight

Pickup - I don't think you can beat the GM Icon. Handle wise, Hunts do a very nice oval handle.

Size and profile of warners current kaboom match bat(it looks big and intimidating abd would fill me with confidence)

Some kind if take on 2013 gray nics stickers(always loved gray nics style. But last 2 years aren't as good as previous)

Pick up off my b3 mullinator(I've never been a "ooh it picks up 2 oz lighter" person. But it picks up so well)

Performance of my black and pink b3! Never had a match bat thar sent the ball flying as far as that did. Was amazing.

Handle. Well b3 seem to get my handle right all the time. So, a nice perfectly round one forward set a tad.

The bow of my old Easton. Was an extreme bow and I loved it!

Looks. Looks. Errr I used to be a suckered for as many grains and no blemishes. So then I'd have chose my black and pink b3. But honestly. I do love a bit of character.
So I'd take a cross between my butterfly and 1 stripe. So about 6 wavy grains. 2 of them a dark blue colour, 3/4 inch darkwood with a nice butterfly stain just below the stickers.
