Can Ryan Ten Doeschate really be picked in these teams considering the Netherlands haven't qualified for this World Cup?

humm no - I am not sure he can, in my view, nor can Ajmal as he isn't in the Pak squad (at the moment)

This is a tough call not least because Amla is also a quality performer - really good thread.

Gayle   WI
Warner   Aus
Williamson   NZ
Kohli   Ind
Ten Dascarte   Hol Joyce      Ire
Taylor (wk)   Zim
Shakib Al Hasan   Bang
Afridi   Pak
Malinga   SL
Steyn   SA
Anderson   Eng local club side in Lancashire

next problem is who to captain... Afridi has done it once or twice, but may retire before the tournament. Gayle, no he will fall asleep during the team talk, Kholi? humm - I will go with Anderson because we need something unexpected. Batting looks a little soft, but I deliberately picked the bowlers first (with an eye on Warner opening the batting)

Actually if I picked Joyce instead of the Dustcart - I would probably have him as captain

Very good point, I have this odd feeling that someone in their squad may get 'Injured' and he'll come into the team at some point though.

I'll change Ajmal for Afridi in my team then.

Amazes me how many people seem to go for Jason Holder - anyone want to explain that to me?

Someone in the IPL picked him up and he did pretty well i seem to remember. I picked him because he's a decent, tall, line and length man. I like that in a bowler.

Does bemuse me how he bowls so slowly though for someone of his size and physique.......

Not dissing the lad - he looks a cricketer of some promise.  Just struggling to see how he's the best West Indian bet - even if you exclude Bravo and Pollard for not being in the squad, I'd have thought one of the big names like Gayle, Roach, Samuels or Narine would get most people's nod.

the thing with picking Holder is he is currently bowling well and also if you pick Gayle (who is out of nick), Narine (injured), Samuels or Roach you then you have to make scarifies elsewhere which i wasn't going to make eg. there are better batsman then Samuels from other countries.

this sort of dilemma is what makes picking this team so interesting.

Glad you like the puzzle!  We'll have to agree to differ regarding Holder!
