Surface cracks
« on: March 09, 2015, 04:17:35 PM »

Hello guys,

I was cleaning up a teammates bat and after removing the scuff sheet noticed that there is a crack along the grain, which I believe is a very good sign. I also noticed a couple of cracks across the grain and would like your expert opinion if this is normal or if this is something to worry about.

Also, if I use goo gone to remove the sticky residue, would the bat be affected?

I'd use white spirit to remove the residue then give the face a sand down.

The crack looks like its superficial to me.
Best case scenario is you'll sand the crack out, worse case is you'll have to sand it, glue the crack then sand it again.

Nothing to worry about, sand it and give it a drink looks very dry and should be good as gold.
