BLITZ is here
« on: May 26, 2015, 06:41:06 PM »

Got this one for a friend directly from Newbery
Fist impression is its a big piece of wood
I asked for 2-10 and Andy from Newbery told he has one in 2-10.5
On my scale it shows 2-12 (the scale is working fine)
Still its a big bat with 48 mm edges, spine is 60 mm
Pickup is good - thanks to concaved profile and its not bottom heavy
Slight wavy grains with heartwood on the outside edge
Good news is its a full width blade
Pings really well and it should for this weight and size and price ;)
The front stickers are nice but someone did a hasty job of putting the back sticker and its not properly stuck with some wrinkles
Also got couple of dings on the edge because of shipment - cann't blame newbery for that

All in all its a good bat.I think newbery can do a better job on finishing and stickering the bat and may be give it a thicker handle as these are meant to be heavy weight bats.

Might be the pic or my eye, but the spine on that bat looks off centre?

Nice looking profile, I still think the stickers are horrendous. Newbery and Salix were always a classy brand in my opinion, Newbery seem like they've been bought by chavs!

Found at this week that 'Andy from Newbery' is former Warwickshire and Sussex seamer Andy Miller. Used to play with him for Preston

So its a shorter blade, longer handle. Like the uzi. Its a big chunk of wood. Bet its pressed well. Says Limited Edition, so i wonder what was the motivation to do it. I think Newbery needed to let go of the traditional plain grip and go for a customised grip with some more bling or green to match the stickers.

For a profile like that you'll be better off with a Kippax surely? All edge pretty much.

Looks like an import  ;)

I played with Andy at Warwickshire and also at Lancs.

Decent lad!

Can you do a side profile shot comparison of this Blitz and the Uzi?

Gave the bat to my friend now. I do have the UZI with me. Uzi obviously has no concaving. Edge size wise UZI may almost be half the size of Blitz.
Took this pic yesterday

Have to agree with someone who mentioned that Blitz looks like a Kippax Colossus.

Would love to see a Blitz, Uzi and Kudos side by side. Essentially 3 takes on the same idea

I prefer the Uzi - I don't know why, there's just something about it.
