Is the Powerbow Gen X the X181?
« on: April 06, 2015, 08:05:07 AM »

I've made a random purchase of a new X181 500s off ebay and as I watch Paul's @itsjustcricket reviews of this bat and the current Powerbow  Gen X, I can't help but think they are pretty much the same bat but with a marginally better name and crazier graphics. I picked up the gen x in store and was impressed it wasn't as bottom heavy as powerbows of the past.

Can anyone comment? Both use offset edges with the peak below the highest point of the edge. Not sure how different they are, but they look identical. Smaller edge, bigger bow?

Haven't seen an X181 for a while, but we stocked both models side by side last year, can't say they ever struck me as being identical. The Powerbow has a very low middle.

Ok. Must be my gen X eyes playing up. Lol. Perhaps saying identical is wrong. Siblings perhaps?

I see it. Shoulders slightly thicker on x181 and peak of edges slightly higher.

I see that is a 500 model. Were they sold in the UK? I only recall the 750 and Aus had the 1000.

It arrived and im pretty happy for $AUS 150 delivered.

Long elongated middle that is very sweet from mid to low and usable higher up. Nice pressing and actual weight is 2.71 on my scales. That allows me room for oilling, extra grip, facing and edge tape and it will be around 2.88 and pickup will be like a feather. 40mm edge and 60 mm spine. Despite very heavy concaving the middle actually feel wider than other bats with concaving I've knocked in during the past 12 months.
