Help with a new bat for my daughter

Hi everybody,  I'm new to the forum I I’ll hold my hands up now and say that I have never played cricket, although have spent the past 4/5 years watching my 17 year daughter play cricket.
I need some advice on a new bat for her, she play’s at country level and beyond and currently has a kooks verve players (grade 1) and a borrowed cadejo players, which she selects herself from the factory. These re both SH mens bats. Last season she had a harrow

The problem is that she is only 5’6/7 and a slim build and has moved to a SH mens for some extra weight.

We are considering going via the custom made route and getting a SH or SHH rather than a Harrow.

Is this a good idea, will she be able to get some extra ‘meat’ on the bat without making it to heavy (sorry I don’t know the weights if her bats but think there approx 2.2 ish)?

Any constructive advice would be very welcome or recommendations?

We are Leicester based so if it’s a custom bat ideally within 50 miles.

GM do a woman's range. Just a tad shorter than a sh.

Contact @Vitas Cricket who's should be able to sort one out for your budget and daughters style of cricket.



Other than that contact b3 cricket, they are just of the m1 near notts and custom make all there bats. Should be able to make anything for your needs.

Hi, we are in Peterborough. We have a couple of Womens sized GM bats in stock, small mens could also be an option, this size is suppled by a number of brands.

Hi and welcome to the forum my thoughts are at 5ft 6ish and slim build she should stay with an Harrow   length blade as it will be easier for her to control with a 4 1/4  inch wide blade but get the bat maker to increase the wieght to around 2lb 6 ounces when you visit the batmaker take a pair of Batting gloves and get  her to pickup a few bats using top hand only and  also swing a few different wieghts of bats. Also  see if the bat handle  slips if so get the bat maker  to make the corect thickness handle   A SSH handle is around 1 shorter in length and usually  gives better control  of the bat to  players under 5ft 7inches.
Also you could discuss with the Batmaker an Academy size bat which is between a SH  and Harrow.
As you are in Liecs As far as i am aware Hawk bats  in Stourbridge allow you to select a  suitable cleft and can shape a bat to suit your daughters requirements while you are there.

If you are going the "custom" route, I suggest you reach out to Marty Graham at MG2 Cricket. Marty sponsors NZ women's national team cricketers and has a lot of experience with women's bats. He makes amazing bats for men too, just in case our readers are wondering. ;)
