Sorry for reposting this again but I couldn't find my original post on this topic.
I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience / could give advice on the following..
I sold a bat on eBay back in February to someone who it turns out is playing in Australia. He gave me an address of a 'friend' in the UK to send to so he could hold onto it until he was back in July. I did this but the bat was returned around 10 days later as it was never collected from Parcelforce's depot. I immediately contacted the buyer to advise of this. He was a bit confused why this had happened and advised over a month ago that he would arrange to send me another address in the UK for me to send it to at extra cost to him. This was after he refused my offer to send it to Australia. As of now I've still not heard back from the buyer even after offering to hold onto the bat until he is back in the UK in July and after sending several chase messages etc. eBay help were far from helpful as I don't think they could fully grasp the situation so I'm wondering where do I stand in reselling this without offering a refund now due to the time that has elapsed / lack of contact from the buyer. I've given him several options to hold onto it etc and still not had confirmation so for the time being this is just gathering dust / tempting me to use it for myself.
Any help or advise would be appreciated.
Cheers.
Have had a coupe of scenarios similar to this. It's been well over 18 months since i last heard from someone who left a bat for repair. I've given the bat to a kid i coach.
It's long past the period where he can file a claim through paypal, so speaking from a purely personal viewpoint here (having had enough ebay nightmares on my personal account) i would just keep the money, stop pursuing him and move on with life.
If you have a bit more of a conscience than me, refund him (if even possible, the refund function is disabled after a certain period. DO NOT send him money via any other method than refund or you expose yourself to all sorts of risk) and then move on. Hassle of relisting etc is a pain of course, so perhaps you could deduct some money for the wasted postage, and the hassle of taking so long/having to relist etc.
