Storm damage?
« on: May 27, 2015, 08:08:47 PM »

Well... I've been using my B3 butterfly mostly as a midweek t20 league bat as it's my spare and it piiiings. Today I was well on my way to a 50rtd, bat going well, got a nice half volley, creamed a cover drive and was left holding a lot less bat! (Ball went for 4 incidentally). Broken my fair share of bats but never like this ha.

Thoughts? I put plenty of time into knocking it in and getting it ready to play etc, and it's only had about 4 knocks! Some kind of storm damage I'm assuming, anyone know much about that? (note: not pissed at B3 at all, am contacting them separately and just thought I'd post this for your entertainment and discussion).

Sorry to see this happening to you. I'm sure B3 will look after you.

You had no idea beforehand that this was going to happen? No small cracks front or back? No difference in feel or sound in the bat whatsoever?

The only bat ive had thats gone like that was a storm damaged newbery years back
Im sure you will be sorted out dealing direct with the manufacturers
Bit of a shock when it happens thou
I played a forward defensive and was left holding half a bat, much to the amusement of the bowling side whilst i was crestfallen
You will get sorted out im sure
Good luck

bit of tape will fix that right up  ;)

I've seen someone play a shot and just be left holding a handle, but not quite like that!

Great video on Youtube of when this happened to Alex hales in county championship 2014. He was tapping the handle into the crease. Always worth watching for a good laugh!

Exactly the same happened in the Big Bash. I remember watching it but can't for the life of me remember who it was

No warning at all! No cracking beyond one small edge crack (which wasn't by the break). Played beautifully right up until the shot it broke on.
