Hi all,
After some advice from the cricket footwear nerds out there.
My question is around using spikes without spikes or conversion studs in.
Is it possible to take out the spikes from the heels of shoes and instead of replacing them with conversion studs, have screw in plugs or bolts so the threads stay protected, just in cause you want convert back to full spikes later?
Here is a bit of history.
I bat in half spikes, but find it quite strange that conversion studs are still used on the heels.
Pretty much every bigger brand of shoes puts rubber studs or grip on the heal of their shoes as well as spikes, but at a lower level than the conversion studs end up.
So if you happen to play on a ground that is a little uneven, your conversion studs make contact before the rest of the heel. I've found this a little disconcerting even rolling my ankle once or twice.
So i want to uses them without spikes or conversion studs in the heels. But i had some other shoes where the threads damaged meaning when i then wanted to use them as full spikes, the spikes wouldn't screw back in.
Is there anything out on the market that i could use? I was thinking the right thread sized small bolts with no heads and a phillip screw driver fitting, but unsure of the thread size? Something a bit like this -

Cheers.
